World of Cultures
Bonded Through Diversity
As globalization is crushing cultural distinctiveness, it’s easy to overlook the rich and complex diversity of the world’s micro-cultures who are truly the foundation for all that’s human. Traveling throughout the journey of life, from beginning to end, we’ll explore the incredible variety of HUMAN customs, beliefs, and traditions that have been handed down for centuries giving us purpose and uniquely coloring our lives across the globe.
From deep within the Amazonian jungle, to the endless and seemingly deserted dunes of the Southern Arabian Peninsula, to the congested and polluted Pearl River Delta, to the frozen Arctic, humans have thrived for thousands of years due to their communal mindset. Birthing traditions in Bali, elaborate mourning rituals in India, or brutal rites of passage ceremonies in Brazil have all been handed down, generation to generation, to not only individually express themselves as a culture but to bond the individual community in deeply personal yet universally similar ways.
But we’ll also delve into the challenges and conflicts that arise when cultures clash, whether it’s over religious differences, political ideologies, or simply a lack of understanding of one another. We’ll interview those standing on the bridge of these divides, and find out how, as humans, we can have greater respect and appreciation for all that we find different from our own communities.
Through it all, we’ll walk away with a greater appreciation for the richness and complexity of the world we inhabit and a deeper understanding of the ways in which we are all connected through our differences as human beings. And regardless of our backgrounds our beliefs, we all share one simple goal: survival of the species.
ALL THAT’S HUMAN is a mini-series like no other, traveling to the furthest regions of the globe to showcase the incredible arc of human life, from beginning to end, in search of true cultural diversity, and inevitably defining what it means to be HUMAN.
